20 years 20 stories photographic
display. It is well worth the visit.
The artist is a 1978 graduate of
Algona High School. David Thoreson`s
latest adventure was a 75 trek through
the Northwest Passage this summer.
His last 24 hours into Kodiak Alaska
were very harrowing. His blog site

Major fire at Blue Earth

There has been a fire at a cereal plant in Blue Earth Minnesota.
Authorities say fire destroyed the the Kerry group warehouse
that employs about 200 people. The cause is still under
investigation. Kerry Group makes dry cereal and other
consumable goods.

Poet Company gets DOE go ahead!

AN ETHANOL COMPANY OUT OF SIOUX FALLS SOUTH DAKOTA HAS SIGNED AN AGREEMENT WITH THE U-S DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY TO BUILD ONE OF THE FIRST IN THE NATION CELLULOSIC ETHANOL PLANTS AT EMMETSBURG. OFFICIALS OF THE POET COMPANY SAY THE OPERATION AT EMMETSBURG WILL EXPAND ITS DRY MILL ETHANOL PLANT TO PRODUCE PRODUCT NOT ONLY FROM CORN KERNELS BUT IN ADDITION THE COBS AND STALKS THAT ARE NORMALLY LEFT OVERS IN THE FIELDS. POET OFFICIALS SAY THE EMMETSBURG PLANT SHOULD BE OPERATIONAL BY THE YEAR 2011 AND WOULD PRODUCE 125 MILLION GALLONS A YEAR, 25 PERCENT FROM CORN COBS AND FIBER.

Two vehicle accident

AN ALGONA WOMAN AND A PASSENGER FROM WESLEY HAD TO BE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL AFTER A TWO VEHICLE ACCIDENT INVOLVING A MAN FROM WHITTEMORE AT KOSSUTH COUNTY ROAD B-55 AND IRVINGTON ROAD YESTERDAY MORNING. KOSSUTH COUNTY SHERIFF`S DEPUTY JEFF GILMORE IDENTIFIES THE DRIVERS AS 38 YEAR OLD ALAN ANDREW LAUBENTHAL DRIVING A 1993 KENWORTH, AND 47 YEAR OLD NANCY LYNN LOESCHEN WHO WAS DRIVING A 1993 CHEVY VAN. DEPUTY GILMORE SAYS IN AN ACCIDENT REPORT THE LOESCHEN VEHICLE WAS TRYING TO PASS A TRACTOR WITH A TRACTOR FULLY STACKED WITH HAYBALES, THE DRIVER THOUGHT THE LOAD WAS TIPPING AND TRIED TO PASS SLOWLY AND WAS REAR ENDED BY LAUBENTHAL. LOESCHEN AND A PASSENGER 57 YEAR OLD MARY CRUISE WERE TAKEN BY ALGONA AMBULANCE TO KOSSUTH REGIONAL HEALTH CENTER FOR TREATMENT. NO CITATIONS WERE ISSUED.
