More details have been released by the Algona Police Department about a minor two vehicle Accident in the 700 block of East McGregor Street. The driver of the vehicle that accidently backed into another is identified As 25 year old John-J-Steir of Algona in a 1991 Chevy Van, the owner of legally parked 2007 G-M-C is identified as Daniel Foertsch of Algona. 950 dollars in estimated damage to the Foertsch vehicle.

New sex offender added to the Kossuth County list.

The Kossuth County Sheriff`s Department Reports a new name has been added to the list of known sex offenders residing in Kossuth County. The subject is 37 year Old Gerald Rae Wait who is residing in the rural Luverne area. Wait is described as a white male, five foot nine inches tall at a weight of 200 pounds, with brown hair, and brown eyes and a brown and gray colored beard. Kossuth Supervisors meet Tuesday.

The Kossuth County Board of Supervisors will have a shorter than usual weekly meeting next Tuesdayat 9:00 A.M. at the Kossuth County Courthouse. County Auditor Joann Bormann says the Supervisors will work through eight agenda items. The meeting will take place on Election Day, on that day four precincts in Algona proper will be staffed including a polling place in the Assembly Room of the Courthouse. The Supervisors offer a Public Discussion Time with each of their weekly meetings meaning that if a member of the public wishes to speak to the Board of Supervisors about any subject they can do so at 9:05 A.M.

David Thoreson returns to Algona.

Photographer and Adventurer David Thoreson a native of Algona made a return visit to his hometown for Career Day at Algona High School and a talk about his work which is on display at the Algona Public Library. Thoreson`s exhibit is called "20 Years, 20 Stories" and can be viewed during normal Library business hours at a room there which is called "The Gallery". Thoreson says his most recent adventure has been the grandest which was a sailing trip through the Northwest Passage in which the adventurers on the journey made it all the way through. Thoreson spoke to the crowd about the issues of Global Warming which he says as evidenced by the fact that the crew he was on sailed through the Northwest Passage without getting iced in, that the impact of Global Warming is inexorable.

A night to go to the theatre.

Tonight would be a good night to go out and support the activity of live theatre in Algona. The theatre students of Algona High School present the musical "Fiddler on the Roof" at the O.B.Laing Middle School at 7:00P.M. and the theatre students of Bishop Garrigan High School present the musical "Bye Bye Birdie" at the Friedmann Auditorium on the Bishop Garrigan Campus at 7:30 P.M. tonight.
