Stacy Goepel found not guilty.
Former Britt Public Works Director Stacy Goepel was found not guilty by a jury in Bremer County of two charges of falsifying documents. The jury deliberated the case for three hours before returning a not guilty verdict.
Low turnout for City Elections.
On Election Day in Algona at four polling places 147 votes were cast out of 4,952 eligible voters a percentage of 2.97 %. In Kossuth County 1,245 people voted of 8,829 eligible voters. The most votes cast were at Bancroft with 232.

Here are the headlines from City Elections held in the listening area yesterday. Robert Baker was elected as the new Mayor of Swea City. At Bancroft incumbent Mayor Jan Wolfe was reelected Mayor winning over Thomas Johnson by the margin of 10 votes. At Wesley incumbent Mayor Duane Larson bested the challenge of Merlin Studer 83 votes to 55. At Luverne Dennis Holmes wins a write in race for Mayor picking up 17 votes. Karen Johnson wins a contested race for Mayor of Crystal Lake, at Buffalo Center Reiner Levik wins a close race for Mayor defeating Troy Armstrong 160 votes to 154.
Fenton boy in pick up truck pedestrian accident.
15 year old Cory Van Ginkel of Fenton had to be taken to Kossuth Regional Health Center for treatment after a pedestrian/pick up truck accident at Phillips and McGregor Streets in Algona yesterday afternoon. The driver was identified as 54 year old Albert James Pergande. Assistant Algona Police Chief Curt Schipper says an investigation continues and charges are pending.

Legacy Ball follow up story.
A follow up story on last Saturday nights “Legacy Ball” held by Kossuth Regional Health Center at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Algona. K-R-H-C Foundation Director Nancy Grandgenett Besch says attendance was 250 people and 64-thousand-500 dollars was raised. Grandgenett Besch says Doctor Alan Hjelle a family physician at K-R-H-C received the Golden Stethoscope Award from Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, an award that recognizes an exceptional practice of healing. She says the evening meal was catered by the combination of Tom Straub of Sister Sarah`s restaurant and Knight of Columbus Hall Caterer Geri Elsbecker.
City of West Bend recieves grant money.
The Iowa Transportation Commission approved a Revitalize Iowa's Sound Economy (RISE) Local Development grant application submitted by the city of West Bend. Commision spokesman Stuart Anderson says up to $116,172 will be made available to grade and pave First Street N.E. from Iowa 15 east approximately 900 feet. Funding for the grant comes from the city share of the RISE fund. Anderson says the new roadway will provide paved access to the first phase of this 12-acre development that will ultimately provide 11 lots for development.
