More snow to contend with.
The Weather man is talking about two more inches of snow tonight. Algona City Public Works Director Chad Schaeffer says homeowners are asked to do the best they can with snow removal. Public Works crews were out again early this morning doing snow removal chores. Schaeffer says the combination of snow, sleet and freezing rain makes snow removal a hassle for everyone.

One vehicle accident this morning in Algona.
The Algona Police Department investigated a one vehicle accident this morning at 3:56 A.M. at Hall and Riverview Streets. Assistance Police Chief Curt Schipper says the vehicle in the accident was driven by Nick Moe who hit a pole, there was some two-thousand dollars in estimated damage. Moe apparently was not seriously hurt.
High School Dance teams from Algona High Schools do well in Des Moines at State competition.

Competition in Des Moines as both Algona High School and Bishop Garrigan had dancers make the trip.
Coach Coleen Schiltz says B-G-H-S got a first place in Class 3 Pom, a first place in Class 4 Hip Hop, and also received a Distinguished Academic Award for their cumulative grade point average of 3.72. Coach Schiltz also says the Bishop Garrigan Dancers received a Judges Choice Most Prestigous award, they were singled out

Says the dancers got a first place for a Kick routine and also a first place award for a Jazz routine as well.
Both coaches reported good crowds in Des Moines for the event despite iffy weather conditions.

Christmas Party held for families of deployed Soldiers.
Among the activities that did take place yesterday was at the National Guard Armory at Algona. There was a Christmas Party that was held for families of deployed soliders overseas.

According to the State Department of Transporation Web Site: U-S 169 is partially covered with a mix of snow, slush and ice from the Webster County Line all the way up to the Minnesota state line. U-S 18 both east and west is described as having normal winter time driving conditions.

Public works crews are on the job.
City of Algona Public Works Crews began the snow removal process at 3-AM yesterday and continued their efforts early this morning. Algona Public Works Director Chad Schaeffer says crews are hard at work and challenged since the snow storm featured snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain.
