Flu season has officially arrived in Iowa, with the first case of the flu confirmed by the Iowa Department of Public Health.
For those who still need to get their flu vaccine, Kossuth Regional Health Center clinic in Algona will continue to host walk-in flu clinics on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 4:30 p.m. through the month of November or until vaccine runs out.
“It’s not too late to protect yourself from the flu,” said KRHC Community Health nurse Mary Hilbert. “We have plenty of FluMist supply on hand now, a large supply of flu vaccine for children under age 19 and lots on hand for adults. With the holidays coming, it’s a good idea to get vaccinated as soon as possible.”
Symptoms of the flu include fever, headache, tiredness, cough, sore throat, nasal congestion and body aches. Health officials recommend that Iowans get their flu vaccine and advise staying home from work or school if they get the flu, to avoid spreading it to others.
