Accident between Algona and Burt on U-S 169.

Three people were treated and released after a car/semi accident on U-S Highway 169 four and a half miles north of Algona. Kossuth County Sheriff`s Deputy Mike Sankey identifies the truck driver as 37 year old Scot Nairn of Webster City who was driving for the Dart Transit Company, the driver of a 2004 Buick Lasabre was 77 year old Howard Thompson of Bancroft. According to the accident report the Thompson vehicle was slowing down to make a turn into a farm lane and got rearended by the truck as both were going south, the LaSabre was push into a mailbox and post and into the ditch. Deputy Sankey says the occupants of the car including passenger Carol Thompson were spared serious injury by being seatbelted. Truck driver Nairn was cited for Failure to Maintain Control. 27-thousand dollars in estimated damage between the two vehicles.
