The County Compensation Board meets.

The Kossuth County Compensation Board met at the Courthouse, they are charged with setting a cap on the raises that elected officials in the county and their first deputies can receive, 13 people. Four of the seven board members attended the meeting, Stuart Simonson offered that the cealing be six percent across the board and the vote was four to nothing in favor. The Board of Supervisors will have the final say over raises at budget time. In terms of state rankings County Attorney Todd Holmes is the highest rated salaried elected official at 22nd in the state, the other offices are in the middle of the 99 county pack, Sheriff Paul Gronbach who has announced he will not run again in November is 51st of the 99 Iowa Counties, Kossuth County Auditor Joann Bormann who also has announced she will not be running again is 55th among Iowa Counties in the ranking of her salary level. The five member Board of Supervisors are the 48th highest salary in the state, the Supervisors receive 25,552 dollars a year. The nationwide average annual growth rate in 2008 will increase two-point-five percent.
