Algona Fire Chief Chuck Bell says the Algona Fire Chief is very pleased to be receiving funds from the Department of Homeland Security. Chief Bell says the goal at this point is to fund the purchase of a tanker to replace a model that is vintage 1978. The Chief says funds will come from a variety of sources to fund the purchase.
Meanwhile Chief Bell suffered a fall helping with the snow removal process on Sunday December 2nd, he says he was working on a snow removal tractor at the fire house and was on foot when he slipped, he says his shoulder broke the fall but he did break vertebrae in his back. Chief Bell says he is able to get out of the house but will not be able to work for a while.
