slippery roads cause accidents in Kossuth County

Icy roads were a factor in two separate car accidents on Monday. Deputy Roger Fisher investigated both incidents. The first was a 2 vehicle accident at the intersection of Kossuth County road P-16 and US Highway 18. Deborah Jo Lee of Whittemore was northbound on P-16, just south of 18 when she lost control of her vehicle, a 1999 Chrysler 300, and entered the west ditch. Upon entering the ditch, Lee struck another vehicle that was left unattended, a 1996 Chrysler belonging to AJ Bell. There was estimated 25 hundred dollars damage between both cars and there were no injuries.

The second accident occurred on county road P-54 or Plum Creek Road right before noon. Tricia Garry of Algona was southbound and lost control of her 2005 Chrysler van due to the icy roads. Garry’s van entered the west ditch, rolled once and came to a rest on the wheels. Tricia Garry was taken by Algona Ambulance to the KRHC for possible injuries. There was an estimated five thousand dollars in damage.
