Public hearings on the whole grade sharing agreement at Sentral and North Kossuth.

Dual Public Hearings were held at Sentral School at rural Fenton and at North Kossuth at Swea City about a whole grade sharing agreement that is proposed by the two sides. Some 39 people attending the hearing at Sentral and 25 people attended the hearing at Swea City.
According to the School Board Secretaries 30 days must elapse before action on finalizing the five year agreement can take place. The elementary set up would remain the same while middle school students would go to Sentral and high school students would go to Swea City.
The agreement if signed by both parties would go into effect the first of July next year. Qualified employees who are laid off or contracts are terminated as a result of the agreement next spring may be entitled to preferential hiring in the partner district in any additional positions added due to the need for additional staff. Based on the numbers of students in school North Kossuth would pick up 67 percent of the tab and Sentral would pay 33 percent. Numbers wise 40 ninth, tenth and eleventh graders would go from Sentral to North Kossuth and 70 sixth, seventh and eighth graders would go from North Kossuth to Sentral.
