Hancock County Court Beat

On the Court Beat in Hancock County a 25 year old Britt man was convicted on charges of Theft in the Second Degree. Hancock County Attorney Karen Kauffman Salic says Jonathan Paul Mathies was convicted of the Class D felony stemming from a series of 44 checks written to the Britt Kum and Go store back in April. The sentencing was an indeterminate prison term not to exceed five years, to pay costs, attorney fees and 15 hundred dollars in victim restitution. The prison term was suspended and Mathies will serve two years probation under the supervision of the department of Correctional Services.
