Follow up notes from the Palo Alto Board of Supervisors meeting.

At this week’s meeting of the Palo Alto County Board of Supervisors at Emmetsburg, the Supervisors passed a resolution to submit an application for funding assistance to the Palo Alto County Gaming Development Corporation. Board Chairman Ron Graettinger says the intent is to seek grant money for the purpose of upgrading the pavilion at the Palo Alto County Fairgrounds. The Supervisors passed a resolution encouraging the State Legislature to do something about the local liability of potential lawsuits that could be filed by families of Ragbrai riders who die during the course of the week’s ride against the Counties the riders were in at the time. A recent lawsuit against Crawford County was cited as an example. Kris Ausborn President of the Palo Alto County Economic Development Corporation and also Executive Director of the Group Maureen Elbert spoke to the Supervisors and touted the accomplishments of the organization; Extension Education Director Bob Behkendorf also spoke and touted the Extension partnership between the two counties.
