House and car fire in Algona Thursday night.

The Algona Fire Department reports a couple of fires last night but no injuries in either instance.
Fire Chief Chuck Bell reports a house fire at 1614 East State Street near Bertha Godfrey Elementary School at 8:06 P.M. He says the fire was contained to the attic area of the home belonging to the Duane Walker family. Chief Bell says damage was minimal other than some smoke damage that led to some sheet rock removal in the garage and living room area. Earlier in the evening Chief Bell reported a car fire at 817 South Moore Street, he says a 1995 Chevy Alumina suffered engine damage. Chief Bell says the response time to both fire calls was one minute each instance from 22 volunteer fire fighters.
