Algona City Council meeting results!

The Algona City Council met at City Hall in a work and a regular session. During the work session a power point presentation was held on the subject of the City and Algona Municipal Utilities implementing a Global Information System. Engineer Kurt Wiseman of the firm of Kuel and Payer says the system provides layers of aerial photography mapping that can be used for multiple purposes. No action was taken but Kuel and Payer were given the go ahead to proceed with their proposal and give another presentation to officials of the City and A-M-U. Council did approve the 10-thousand dollar loan from the revolving loan fund to Teresa Kellenberg to spruce up her business on State Street. They also approved a fireworks request for Bishop Garrigan High School for Friday Nights Homecoming game. City Administrator Cole O’Donnell says there has been no increase in rider ship demand for taxi rides across the bridge project area. He says sidewalk space is still not out of the question yet the taxi rides have been offered as a stop gap measure. Citizens are reminded that raking leaves into the street in front of homes is a no-no, and people were asked to voluntarily clear leaves from intakes in front of their homes. There was also talk of some help for the families of troops who were sent off to Kosovo from the National Guard Armory last summer at the upcoming Christmas time. City Administrator Cole O’Donnell says health insurance rates for City employees will only go up four-point-zero-eight percent next year.
