One Algona High School Band Member and four Choir Members were selected through auditions for membership in the Iowa High School Music Association’s All State Band, Orchestra and Chorus in Storm Lake. Linda Mertz says Algona is in the eastern tier of counties that auditioned at the Northwest site in Storm Lake.
Mertz says The 61st annual Iowa All-State Music Festival is sponsored by the Iowa High School Music Association and the Iowa Music Educators’ Association and will be held in Ames, on November 15, 16 and 17, 2007.
Selected to perform in the 2007 Iowa All State Band was:
Becca Kent (senior)
Daughter of Bob and Jean Kent of Algona, on bassoon.
Selected to perform in the 2007 Iowa All State Chorus was:
Courtney Westling (senior)
Daughter of Carl and Moni Westling of Algona
Pat Gerhardt (senior)
Son of Chris and Anita Gerhardt of Algona
Alex Hagg (sophomore)
Son of Dan and Holly Hagg of Algona
David Baxter (sophomore)
Son of Howard and Kim Burton of Algona
