Details on a one vehicle accident.

A 37 year old man from Danbury Connecticut was charged with Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense and Failure to Maintain Control after a one vehicle accident four miles northeast of Algona in Plum Creek Township at 140th Avenue and 250th Street. Kossuth County Sheriff`s Deputy Charles Robinson in his accident identified the driver as Robert Patrick Hawthorne who was going south on 140th Avenue and apparently lost control as he got to close to the shoulder of the road, and the vehicle went into the east ditch which had about seven feet of flood waters from the East Fork of the Des Moines River. Deputy Robinson says the driver got out under his own power. The vehicle a 1995 Chevy Suburban suffered an estimated six-thousand dollars in damage.
