Fiddler on the Roof presented next month by AHS Theatre Group

Algona High School Theatre Department will present the fall musical Fiddler on the Roof at 7:00 on November 1, 2, and 3 in O.B. Laing Middle School Auditorium. Fiddler on the Roof is the classic 1960s musical by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick about Jews living in turn-of-the-century Tsarist Russia. The story follows Tevye, a poor milkman, as he and his family face changing traditions and are forced out of their village. The music includes such familiar tunes as "Tradition," "If I Were a Rich Man," "Matchmaker," and "Sunrise, Sunset."Algona High School's production stars senior All-State speaker Alex Shockley (Dexter, The Philadelphia Story and Nurse, Romeo and Juliet) as Tevye. Senior Samantha Wagner (Mrs Paddy, The Curious Savage) plays Tevye's wife, Golde, and senior Lisa Nelson (Benvolio, Romeo and Juliet), senior Courtney Westling (Tybalt, Romeo and Juliet), and junior Tayler Davis (Lily Belle, The Curious Savage) play his three eldest daughters. Senior Patrick Gerhardt (Jeff, The Curious Savage) plays Motel the Tailor, junior Victor Schultz plays Perchik the student, senior Tory Metzger (Old Capulet, Romeo and Juliet) plays Lazar Wolf, the butcher. The principal cast is supported by seniors Neil Moe, Amanda Bottjen, Andy Behnkendorf, and thirty other Algona High School students.Reserve tickets are available by calling Algona High School at 295-7207.
