Domestic Violence Awareness Month

The month of October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Emily Evans represents Crisis Intervention Service headquartered in Mason City with an outlet here in Algona, she says she handled a case load of 258 in Kossuth County last year. She says perpetrators utilized the areas rural confines to isolate those who are victims. Evans says Crisis Intervention Service uses a 24 hour Crisis line that is the first step to take. She says a memorial event will take place in Algona at the Kossuth County Courthouse to memorialize local victims of domestic abuse homicide since the year 1995, that event will be October 23rd at noon time again at the County Courthouse building.
